Having walked a few other more local trails, I decided to take on the challenge of walking the whole of the South West Coast Path after a walk from South Haven Point to Swanage in 2011. I completed the remainder of the Dorset coast the same year, and then fitted in the Devon and Cornwall coast walks as opportunities arose. I finally completed the Somerset section in October 2018.
Most of my walks were undertaken whilst staying in conveniently situated accommodation for 2-4 nights and using public transport to get to the start of and back from the end of each walk. Some walks without good public transport connections resulted in more non-coast than coast walking.
Although I have no intention of walking the whole of the South West Coast Path again, I will always remember it as the best walk I have undertaken and would hope to revisit some of its highlights when opportunities arise.
